A virtually unmoderated list hosted by Backporch Revolution, with the vague and undefined goal to inform about local music happenings while ranting and raving about New Orleans and related topics of interest. A free-for-all discussion for both New Orleans based musicians and indie/experimental music fans, feel free to lurk or participate in the discussion. We're trying to get a different level of discourse and as far as we're aware there is no resource in New Orleans for this kind of thing. We want to get away from just the usual kinds of music associated with New Orleans (and away from mainstream, tourist-minded boosterism found in the T-P and other publications) and have a place for everyone to talk about what's on their mind. Laissez-faire, if you will. The listserv uses the popular Mailman interface, so you can control your subscription options (digest, privacy, etc) and unsubscribe at any time. Archives and email addresses will only be available only to email-confirmed list members, and we will not be posting the list address on the public web or sharing the subscription list for any other purpose. This will be an unmoderated, free-for-all, list, so topics may get a bit outside of just New Orleans and/or music -- and in fact passionate (but respectful) rants about food, culture, and politics are also encouraged -- but if the signal-to-noise ratio is not to your liking, please remember that you can switch to digest mode or unsubscribe at any time. Using Noise
To post a message to all the list members, send email to noise@backporchrevolution.com. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Noise
Subscribe to Noise by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
